Victory!!--Community groups were able to meet with National EPA EJ Staff
The intense lobbying undertaken by NWTCC Board Members assured that community groups and environmental agencies were able to meet with the National Environmental Justice staff of EPA during their January visit.
Groups were able to meet directly with Matt Tejada, Director of the Office of Environmental Justice and Lisa Garcia, EPA Associate Assistant Administrator.
Without the work of NWTCC members, who voiced the lack of response from the Region 10 Environmental Justice office, and the concerns of the affected citizens living with the fallout of pollution and human health issues not being addressed in vulnerable communities, these issues would not have been heard.
Director Tejada and Associate Assistant Garcia are coordinating with Peter Murchie, EPA Region 10 Interim Manager of the Community Engagement & Environmental Health Unit, followup calls to those communities representatives who requested them, and have also committed to a call with all NWTCC who have EJ issues they want heard and addressed.
